It hasn’t been one month yet, and the Netflix show Adolescence has already become one of the most popular series of all time. So far, the limited series has gotten another 30.4 million views from March 24 to March 31, raising the view count since its debut to 96.
7 million. With the show closing in on 100 million, Adolescence has landed the number 9 spot on the all-time Most Popular English TV list, knocking Season 2 of Bridgerton from the list altogether. Meanwhile, Stranger Things 3 was bumped to tenth place.
As Adolescence continues to captivate viewers, it’ll likely continue to climb the most popular list, especially when The Night Agent and Fool Me Once hold the No.7 and No. 8 spots, respectively, as they each have about 98 million views.
By this time next week, Adolescence will likely surpass both The Night Agent and Fool Me Once in viewership. In the third through the sixth place on the list, they all sit in the low 100 million view range. Adolescence still has a chance at sitting in this range since there are still 72 days remaining in its premiere window.
It’s no secret that Adolescence has been a global hit, and per Netflix, the series has landed in the weekly Top 10 in 93 countries chart, Deadline reported. British actor Owen Cooper has blown many away with his striking performance as the show’s lead. The young actor’s acting debut has earned him much praise from fans, and even critics of Adolescence, who rave about his portrayal of the troubled underage character Jamie Miller.
Amid the growing success of the show, Adolescence director Philip Barantini recently took to Instagram to share a clip of the child star’s audition tape to flaunt Owen’s raw talent. “Owen's audition tapes for Jamie in Adolescence," Paul captioned the post, showing the footage of Owen performing in an attempt to land the part, which he did. Not too long after Paul shared his post, many fans took to his comment section, praising Owen.
One fan commented, "Incredible. Such an inspiration for all of us." Meanwhile, someone shared, "When he swipes the hot chocolate away and loses it, it gives me goosebumps.
He is a little star; he really is." On X, formerly Twitter, even more viewers have complimented the series overall. "Adolescence was perfect.
The acting was amazing, especially as some of the cast were just starting out, and the filming of it all in one take is very unique in television. Stunning show with a very important message, they did a fantastic job," one X user noted.
