Brad Pitt’s production company is in talks to create a second season of Adolescence following its worldwide success - despite the creator initially saying it wasn't going to happen

Netflix subscribers may be getting what they've all been asking for : a season two of Adolescence. This is because Brad Pitt’s production company , Plan B Entertainment, is considering creating a second season of Adolescence based on the outstanding success of the first one. Last month, the British drama, which starred Stephen Graham as Eddie Miller and Owen Cooper as his son Jamie Miller, who is accused of the shocking murder of a female schoolmate, landed on the streaming giant.

And it didn't take long for the drama to become one of the most-watched programs on Netflix around the world, smashing viewing records. Although the series was intended to be limited, there appears to have been a U-turn, as there are now rumors floating around that it could be extended due to the massive response. Unbeknown to many, the production company behind the series was, in fact, Pitt's , which was founded by the Hollywood star in 2001 along with Brad Grey, Kristin Hahn, and Jennifer Aniston.

The actor is now the sole owner of the company, which has been behind acclaimed movies and shows, including 12 Years a Slave, Moonlight, The Underground Railroad, and 3 Body Problem. And now, Plan B Entertainment is reportedly eager to develop the show further. Plan B co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner revealed to Deadline they were speaking to director Philip Barantini about the "next iteration" of the show.

Gardner said they were thinking about how to "widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA, [and] not be repetitive" but did not want to reveal much more about their plans. Kleiner added that the company is hopeful that Graham and Jack Thorne, the writer behind Adolescence, could team up once again if they proceed with season two plans. The duo also explained how Plan B helped get the ball rolling on developing Adolescence after watching Barantini’s one-shot film Boiling Point, which followed a chef (played by Graham) as he faced a personal and professional meltdown.

The company was eager to try a similar format in a series, and Pitt is also a "massive fan" of fellow actor Graham. This very exciting development comes just weeks after Thorne shot down hopes of another season. .

In an interview with ITV’s This Morning, Thorne, 46, was asked if he would create a second series, focussing on Katie. “I don’t think we’re the right people to tell Katie’s story,” he replied. Thorne continued: “I think there are other makers out there that could tell beautiful dramas about Katie or girls like Katie, and that those shows should be made.

“Our aim was to try and tell Jamie’s story as fully as we possibly could, and maybe trying to tell her story would dilute that in some way and maybe we would be inadequate for that task.” The other reason there wouldn’t be a season two was that “Jamie’s story is finished," Thorne added. “I don’t think there’s anywhere more we can take Jamie, so I don’t think there is a series two.
