Netflix series returns and is branded as modern 'Sex and the City' by fans

Season two of a comedy Netflix series has been compared to two iconic shows, the Sex and the City spinoff 'And Just Like That' and Issa Rae's 'Insecure'

Season two of a Netflix comedy series is giving the vibe of two different hit shows. Survival of the Thickest released a new season on March 27. The show stars Michelle Buteau as Mavis Beaumont, Tasha Smith as Marley, Tone Bell as Khalil, Marouane Zotti as Luca, and others.

Mavis is a newly single girl who finds herself having to rebuild her life as a struggling stylist. Her friends help her with big-budget projects and anything to help her with her career. Throughout the season, viewers see the relationship between Mavis and her friends, which many have seen in other shows before.



Season two has been compared to Issa Rae's 'Insecure' and the ' Sex and the City ' spinoff, ' And Just Like That. ' According to Jasmine Williams, reporter for Brit + Co , "There's the familiar supportive friend group, burgeoning careers, and passionate love stories that make you want to call your bestie to complain or scream in excitement." Season two was filmed took place in New York City and Italy, according to IMDB .

'Sex and the City' and 'And Just Like That' were filmed in the Big Apple. The original show stars Sarah Jessica Parker as the iconic Carrie Bradshaw, Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes, Kristin Davis as Charlotte York, Chris Noth as Mr. Big, Willie Garson as Stanford Blatch, and others.

Sex and the City premiered on HBO in June 1998 with a total of six seasons. Viewers saw four best friends navigate their life in the city. Some are looking for love, and others just enjoy the fun.

The spinoff then premiered on MAX in December 2021 with two seasons. Season three is currently being filmed. Insecure quickly became a fan favorite.

The show "follows the awkward experiences and racy tribulations of a modern-day African-American woman," according to IMDb. Insecure premiered in October 2016 with a total of five seasons, created by Issa. Issa stars in the show alongside Yvonne Orji as Molly Carter, Jay Ellis as Lawrence, Natasha Rothwell as Kelli, Amanda Seales as Tiffany DuBois, and others.
