Netflix subscribers have just a few days left to watch a comedy that fans have crowned as one of the 'funniest films' ever. Starring Academy Award-winner Nicolas Cage and Emmy-nominee Pedro Pascal, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is available on Netflix until Wednesday, April 16. In this parody film, Cage plays a fictional version of himself named Nick Cage.
The lead character is a Hollywood star unsatisfied with his career and on the verge of financial ruin. Fortunately, he receives a $1 million offer from Javi (Pascal), a super fan who wants the celebrity to attend his birthday. However, things turn dark when a CIA agent (Tiffany Haddish) recruits Cage, suspecting that Javi is involved in a high-profile kidnapping.
Stepping into a role similar to his other iconic characters, Cage springs into action to save himself and his loved ones. The 2022 comedy may have flown under the radar for some moviegoers, but it found favour with critics. The movie panel on Rotten Tomatoes award the dramedy a certified fresh 87 percent score, with their consensus describing it as "smart, funny, and wildly creative.
" Upon its release, many viewers raved about Cage's performance and even dubbed it his greatest film to date. One Rotten Tomatoes user explained the action-comedy's appeal, writing: "This movie, in my opinion, is the best Nic Cage movie. An incredible cast do a great job and make fun about his past career.
" Another echoed the praise, stating: "This movie is genuinely a witty smart comedy with the best duo I've seen in a long time they bounce off one another perfectly." Meanwhile, a third fan said: "This movie is the feel good movie of the year. A true delight from start to finish.
" Over on IMDB, fans were similarly won over by the comedy, with an enthused viewer sharing: "The comedy is spot on and is the funniest film I've seen in memory, and the comedic timing really puts it at the best of all time." The action film was directed and co-written by Tom Gormican, best known for penning the 2014 romantic comedy That Awkward Moment. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is streaming now on Netflix.
