Netflix fans divided over new series as it's branded 'the new Yellowstone'

Netflix viewers have been left divided over a show that is new to the platform - after noticing it bears a striking similarity to the popular American neo-Western drama, Yellowstone. Yellowstone , which is available to UK viewers via Paramount Plus follows the conflicts along the shared borders of the Yellowstone Dutton cattle ranch, the Broken Rock Indian reservation, Yellowstone National Park, and land developers. The show is returning next month for its final few episodes, leaving die-hard fans scrambling to find a replacement show to fill the void it will leave behind.

However, not everyone is convinced over Netflix ’s The Territory, which has been described as “the fight for power in the remote and unforgiving Australian outback”. A description on IMBD reads: “When the world's largest cattle station is left without a clear successor, generational clashes threaten to tear the Lawson family apart.” Given that the show is also about an epic power struggle over a cattle ranch, it is no wonder that viewers have been drawing comparisons between the two series.



Taking to Reddit , Yellowstone fans shared their thoughts on the Australian Netflix show, with some expressing disappointment. “I like Yellowstone, and I did not like Territory, one commented, as another agreed: “Same here. After the first two episodes I was out.

” (sic) “I watched the first episode of Territory but I wasn't impressed,” another admitted. “ Can't decide if it's worth it to keep watching.” (sic) While one fumed: “Australia does Yellowstone and does a very bad job.

Awful. Woof. Don’t even watch it.

What the hell were they thinking?” (sic) Other fans were more positive, with one commenting: “I enjoyed it a good bit.” Another user even recommended the show to their fellow Yellowstone fans, writing: “If you like Yellowstone, you might also like The Australian TV show Territory on Netflix .” (sic) Meanwhile, on Instagram , plenty of Netflix viewers were sharing some love for the show, with one exclaiming: "What a show, got me hooked!" "Absolutely brilliant Aussie cast and wonderful story.

.. shame it ended so quick," another added.

"Beautifully shot, the scenery is stunning," a third said, as one more enthused: “Can't wait for season 2.” The cast of Territory have since graciously described it as an “honour” to be compared to the Taylor Sheridan series. Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 is set to premiere on Sunday, November 10 on Paramount+.
