The three-part series, Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence , debuted on Hulu two years prior and left a significant impact. It explores the true story of students at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York , who were ensnared by the cult-like sway of their roommate's father, Lawrence 'Larry' Ray.

"The series traces the story from the cult's inception in 2010 on the Sarah Lawrence campus to its recent downfall, when the remaining members find their own path to survival." The drama underscores Ray's victims, who encountered him when he moved into his daughter's dormitory apartment following a prison stint.
At 50 years old, he beguiled the students with fabricated tales about his past as a CIA agent. During his tenure as their roommate, the youths endured physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. In 2023, more than a decade after his initial contact with the victims, Ray was sentenced to 60 years in prison for sex trafficking, extortion, and other related charges.
