Netflix's new drama for fans of dysfunctional families is set to hit the streaming site this summer and viewers are already excited . The Waterfront, featuring an all-star cast, draws on real-life events to tell the story of the Buckley family's struggle to stay afloat when their legacy is on the line. When the family find themselves start to lose their North Carolina fishing empire, they begin to take desperate measures.
The Netflix series is written by Kevin Williamson ( Scream, Dawson’s Creek ), who also has an executive producer credit. Williamson said, "This is about a working man who’s trying to make a go of it for his family. "They’ve pulled themselves up from nothing and they’ve built this mini fishing empire in their small little town.
Now it’s being taken away from them bit by bit. They’ll do anything to hold onto it, because it represents their family." The star-studded cast includes Melissa Benoist of Supergirl fame, Rafael L.
Silva from 911: Lone Star, Mindhunter's Holt McCallany, Maria Bello known for Coyote Ugly and Jake Weary from It Follows. Rafael L. Silva expressed his excitement about joining the cast on Instagram, posting a photo of the news with the caption, "Thank you God.
Humbled & honored." The Waterfront arrives on Netflix on June 19, 2025. The description for the new show states, "For decades, the Buckley family has ruled Havenport, North Carolina, dominating everything from the local fishing industry to the town's restaurant scene.
But their fishing empire has started to crumble as patriarch Harlan Buckley recovers from two heart attacks, and his wife Belle and son Cane venture into the deep end to keep the family businesses afloat. "As their attempts spiral out of control and into treacherous waters, Harlan steps back in to take command. Facing her own demons, Buckley's daughter Bree - an addict in recovery who's lost custody of her son - finds herself entangled in a complicated relationship that could threaten the family's future forever.
