Last week , Google announced that the Nest Cam in the Nest Hub Max will soon be available in the Home app. This requires a Nest Hub Max firmware update, with version F22 rolling out now. As of last week’s announcement, only Nest Hub Max devices enrolled in the device-specific Preview program had the Fuchsia 22 update.
We’re now seeing that firmware in the stable channel. Once installed (and enrolled in the general Public Preview ), the Google Home app will prompt you to “Set up new Nest Cam features for Nest Hub Max.” You can also find this message in the Inbox (notification bell icon in the top-right corner).
Unlike other cameras, you cannot reverse the Nest Hub Max migration into the Google Home app. After transferring, the Nest Hub Max is represented in the Favorites tab as a full-width camera livestream card. There is no option to return to the previous Smart Display card that shows media status, though you’ll still have the docked controls at the bottom of the Google Home app.
To access Smart Display settings, find the Nest Hub Max from the Devices tab.
