The Sandman ’ s second season will be its last, according to Variety , following sexual-assault allegations made against Neil Gaiman. The TV show is based on Gaiman’s classic comics, and its first season debuted in August 2022. Netflix renewed the show in November of that year.

“ The Sandman series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season,” The Sandman showrunner Allan Heinberg told Variety . “We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics’ loyal readers as well as fans of our show.” Gaiman has been accused of assault by nine women who range from his former nanny to young fans, including in a recent New York cover story .

Gaiman denied the allegations, saying, “Some of the horrible stories now being told simply never happened, while others have been so distorted from what actually took place that they bear no relationship to reality,” in a January 14 statement . Sandman season two will still premiere on schedule sometime in 2025..
