Ne Zha 2, the Chinese animated film known as the highest-grossing animated and non-English film of all time, was previously announced to release in Indian theatres on April 25. Now, Warner Bros. India has now confirmed that Ne Zha 2 will release in Hindi dub, along with Tamil and Telugu subtitled versions, and the original Mandarin audio with English subtitles.

India (@WarnerBrosIndia) April 9, 2025 Notably, the film will not release in an English dub in India. Warner Bros. India has also announced that Ne Zha 2 will be available in IMAX screens across the country.
Before this, Pixar’s Inside Out 2 held the record for the highest-grossing animated film, earning $1.69 billion globally , followed closely by Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King at $1.65 billion.
While those films found major success worldwide, Ne Zha 2 stands apart as most of its box office earnings came from mainland China. Ne Zha 2 is the sequel to the 2019 film Ne Zha, with both instalments directed and written by Jiaozi. It is part of Enlight Pictures’ Fengshen Universe and loosely adapts a story from the 16th-century Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods by Xu Zhonglin, published during the Ming Dynasty.
Here is the official synopsis in English: “After the heavenly lightning, although Ne Zha and Ao Bing survived by becoming Spirits, they would soon dissipate completely. Taiyi plans to rebuild Ne Zha and Ao Bing’s mortal bodies with the Seven-colored Precious Lotus. However, during the process of reconstruction, numerous obstacles arise.
