NBC News’ national political correspondent Steve Kornacki on Sunday said there is very small but “potentially meaningful movement” in Donald Trump ’s direction as the race for the presidency remains close against Kamala Harris . Kornacki appeared on “ Meet the Press ” and looked at four recent polls including those from CNBC and The Wall Street Journal showing the GOP nominee leading Harris among registered voters. Trump is tied with the vice president in polls from The New York Times/Siena College and CNN .
“I don’t want to overstate it but at the same time, it’s hard to ignore these four,” Kornacki said. Harris continues to lead in an average of national polls, Kornacki stressed, but the figure has dropped from +3 points to +1.2 points in recent weeks.
He added that the race is “even tighter” in polling from swing states which show Trump ahead in Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina while Harris is up in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The two are tied in Nevada, according to Kornacki’s figures from the state. “So Trump, certainly, a little improvement nationally but where the race is decided, absolutely razor thin,” he said.
Kornacki, after noting that Harris’ positive impression has dropped with voters from roughly one month ago, said there’s “tons of uncertainty and volatility” remaining in the race. Check out more from the “Meet the Press” segment below. Related From Our Partner.
