THERE is no better way to win prize money than participating in a hot dog eating contest - and Nathan's iconic competition returns THIS Thursday. Joey Chestnut wrote his name in the history books once again after picking up the crown last year. But the 16-time winner has been BANNED from competing this year which means Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest will have a new winner for the first time in a decade.

Not only that, but this opens the door for a fresh face to take home the huge amount of prize money Chestnut usually gets for winning. And SunSport can reveal exactly how much that is. Joey Chestnut took home $10,000 for winning the annual competition in 2023.



But here is the breakdown for 2024: Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest 2024 will take place on Thursday, July 4. The Men's contest is scheduled to get underway at 10am ET. While the Women's event will start an hour later - at 12pm ET.

The hot dog eating competition is run by Major League Eating and sponsored by Nathan's - a famous wiener brand. And Chestnut has signed a deal with plant-based Impossible Foods. That makes it impossible for him to now compete in the Nathan's contest, unless something changes.
