Nashville SC defender Walker Zimmerman is in the hospital in stable condition after suffering an apparent head injury in Nashville's 2-1 loss at Charlotte FC on Saturday.In the 71st minute, Zimmerman dove headfirst to clear a cross headed towards Charlotte forward Kerwin Vargas, who was attempting a volley. Vargas' leg collided with Zimmerman's head, knocking him to the turf.
Zimmerman was put in a neck brace and left the field on a stretcher after a six-minute delay, with Jeisson Palacios replacing him. Nashville coach B.J.
Callaghan said Zimmerman was responsive after being taken to the hospital."Everything is being handled by the medical professionals," Callaghan said. "We'll let that process take place.
