Nigeria’s apex students body, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has commended the bold initiative taken by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his visionary leadership and strategic foresight over the proposed establishment of a paramilitary academy. Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, the President of the Senate, NANS Headquarters, in a statement, stated that the bold initiative underscores his deep understanding of national security dynamics and the urgent need to strengthen the country’s security framework through structured training and capacity building.
He stated, “The call for a paramilitary academy is a step in the right direction, as it will serve as an institution for grooming disciplined, well-trained personnel equipped to handle contemporary security challenges. In an era where security threats continue to evolve, it is imperative to invest in institutions that will provide specialized training for paramilitary officers, ensuring they are adequately prepared to contribute effectively to national security and crisis management. “The Honourable Minister has consistently demonstrated a results-oriented approach to governance, tackling critical issues with diligence and expertise.
His commitment to institutional reforms and security sector development is highly commendable. Indeed, his leadership inspires confidence, and his policies reflect a deep understanding of his responsibilities. He added, “Dr.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has, without doubt, proven that he knows his onions and is delivering exceptional results in his capacity as Minister of Interior.” Comrade Akinteye urged all relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, security institutions, and policymakers, to lend their full support to this commendable initiative, saying the establishment of a paramilitary academy will not only enhance security operations but also create opportunities for skill acquisition, youth engagement, and national development. Reaffirming support to promote national security, capacity building, and the overall development of Nigeria, Akinteye said NANS was the voice of the Nigerian students and promised to continue to advocate for policies that safeguard the collective future and ensure a safer society for all.
