11 sports infrastructure projects in Nagaland have been approved under the Khelo India program over the past three years. According to statistics on the Infrastructure Projects Status Under Khelo India Scheme dashboard (https://mdsd.kheloindia.
gov.in), six of them have been finished, while two are in different phases of construction. The remaining three projects have not yet begun construction.
The dashboard showed that Rs. 48.18 crore of the Rs.
54.75 crore in approved money for these 11 projects had been allocated. S Phangnon Konyak, the only member of parliament from Nagaland, brought up the matter in the Rajya Sabha on December 12.
She asked how many sports infrastructure projects in Nagaland had been approved under the Khelo India initiative and what their current status was. The Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya responded by giving information on the programs, their approved expenses, and the money that was made available.
The Khelo India dashboard, he said, makes data on their financial and physical development publicly accessible. Funds under the Khelo India Scheme are distributed scheme-wise rather than state-wise, Dr. Mandaviya explained.
In 2021–2022; 2022–2023; and 2023–2024, a total of Rs. 869 crore, Rs. 600 crore, and Rs.
880 crore were allotted. The following amounts were released from these allocations: Rs. 764.
29 crore, Rs. 596.39 crore, and Rs.
872.20 crore. These funds have been utilized for various components of the Khelo India Scheme, including the development of sports infrastructure, establishment of Khelo India Centres, Khelo India State Centres of Excellence, accredited academies, and support for athletes under the programme, he added.
