However, fast rising gospel music artiste, Gabriel Aideyan who is simply referred to as Gabriel, distanced himself from that category of artistes in a recent interview.
He however asserts that it is also fair that one makes some gains from whatever legal vocation he is into. “Yes, I agree with you, however, no one wants to go into a career without getting a return or making something out of it but for me, the energy that flows from my songs are true reflections of my love for God, so when I sing, I give my best sacrifice of praise. Although, I have had the opportunity to sing at secular events because I rap and also make beats, but my main reason is to worship God with my music.
Multiple times, I have mounted the altar in church leading worship. On an occasion, a lady came and told me that after listening to my music her mood changed with a smile. Testimonies like that keep me going and motivated.
My faith also influences a lot about my music, passing the message of the gospel. For aspiring gospel musicians, let the love of God be the centre of delivering your songs. That Him alone will be praised every other thing will be added.
I have dedicated my life to sing for Jesus. Although, if God uses that medium to bless me financially, I am not going to reject it. My main purpose is purely the heart of worship to God through the gift he has blessed me with.
” Gabriel’s latest single titled ‘Oseiye’ is enjoying rave reviews at the moment. “I currently have a single titled “Oseiye” meaning God has done it. He has finished the work, you can get the song on most music online platforms.
I’m also looking forward to release the video to the song soon, but for now the audio is very much available for downloads.” Like most artistes, Gabriel’s mother has been his pillar of support. “My mum has been a major source of support and encouragement towards my career, I started developing my love for music at an early age through the support of my mum.
I had the opportunity to learn musical instruments and was encouraged to sing in the choir. I also participated in church programs and activities that had a positive impact to my passion for gospel music. She is really a huge inspiration towards my career choice, also encouraging me to use my talents in serving God and advancing His kingdom.
Even at her age she’s very active in the work of God and always encouraging me in serving God.” Gospel music according to Gabriel is not under celebrated in Nigeria. “Well, for me I won’t say that gospel music is underrated or under celebrated as the case may be, instead I will say there’s a great awareness and massive conversion of followers to gospel sound and songs.
It is open for people who have the spirit of God to discern because no one comes to God except through accepting his spirit.” The Benin, Edo State native is also a Lagosian. “I was born in Benin, I am from Benin.
I also was privileged to have my secondary education and Diploma in Computer Engineering all in Benin. I am also a Lagosian too. I have spent a good time in Lagos also.
” His style of music is unique to him, he claims. “My gospel style originally is contemporary beat, with a mix flow of hip hop and dance music. I’m also working presently to bring an Afrobeat sound in form of gospel, please watch out for it, it is going to be so unique, it will be the fad.
Work on that is almost completed in my studio.” The gospel artiste revealed his plans for the immediate future. “I have future plans of coming out with different worship songs including gospel Afrobeat, hip hop.
I also have plans of starting a dance challenge for my upcoming single. It will be in form of a dance competition rewarding the winner with cash prizes and amazing gifts to celebrate Christmas in a special way. I am looking for a dancer that can move with the sound and tune of the song.
G’ Bra Dance competition. I also do have an upcoming project and collaboration with Ekene Smith, he will be producing an event next year tagged “Laff Supper” it’s going to be massive. It is going to be a highly inspirational event celebrating talents and industries captains.
Powered by Ekene Smith Adigwu Youth Foundation. Scheduled to hold Easter Monday next year by God’s grace,” Gabriel submitted.OVER the weekend, the city of Lagos came alive as Maison Martell unveiled its audacious OOH experience, The Martell Tower, beside Palms Mall, Lekki, strengthening the brand’s vision towards becoming a cultural architect in Nigeria and globally.
