Will Elon Musk soon be relegated to a supporting position after a handful of months acting as the DOGE chief? Politico states so, citing sources that claim that Donald Trump has told his inner circle and members of the cabinet that Musk will be stepping down in the coming weeks. Per the publication, the moves come in the wake of several insiders and outsiders in the Trump circle being frustrated with Musk’s unpredictability. They view Tesla's billionaire boss as “a political liability .
” Musk was anyway leaving the corridors of power after a 130-day stint at the department of government efficiency; however, per reports, while the allies wanted him to stay a little longer at the White House. Musk is currently designated as a “s pecial government employee ,” with his job expiring in May or early June. The internet reacted, stating they can't wait to see this happen.
But the jubilation seems short-lived. Directly debunking the report, Karoline Leavitt, the assistant to President Trump and the White House Press Secretary, stated, “ This scoop is garbage. ” She further clarified that Musk will depart “when his incredible work at DOGE is complete .
” Elon Musk was roped in as the DOGE chief along with Vivek Ramaswamy, who made way for Trump for his second presidential re-run. Musk’s tenure at the ministry has created quite an upheaval with the closure of several key projects, including the USAID. Meanwhile, both Democrats and Republicans are accusing each other of running a propaganda playbook over the issue.
