During a hearing held on Wednesday, December 18, authorities confirmed that Minelys was killed on the same day she disappeared. Special Agent Adam Ashworth testified that the phones belonging to Minelys and Rivera Sánchez were traced to several key locations. These locations included the suspect’s apartment, a park, a church, and the site where the body was ultimately discovered.

The last text message sent by Minelys was directed to her fiancé, Julio Tovar, according to the evidence presented. Rivera Sánchez was arrested on October 28 while attempting to board a bus to Texas.

Authorities also discovered that he had hotel reservations in Mexico, indicating a plan to flee. Judge Tricia Hise ruled that the case has sufficient grounds to proceed to Superior Court. If convicted, Rivera Sánchez could face the death penalty, according to local reports.
