Murder investigation launched after woman dies in Lewisham

Police were called at 6.41am on Sunday April 13 after paramedics from the London Ambulance Service found a woman with serious injuries in Hatfield Close, SE14. Officers rushed to the scene along with London’s Air Ambulance.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after, at 6.52am, a 44-year-old man walked into Lewisham Police Station and was arrested on suspicion of murder.



He remains in custody. Police say the man and woman are believed to be known to each other. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact police..
