The brave mum of a toddler who has a rare genetic condition has shown him anything is possible by completing a skydive. Nicole Pearce, from Whaplode Drove, is over the moon to have raised £2,495 for The LimbBo Foundation by conquering her fear of heights to complete the daredevil challenge. Her son Oaklen , who turns three soon, was born with limb differences and has spent countless times in hospital for surgery.
Nicole said: “It was an absolutely amazing experience and something I will treasure forever. “I hope to show Oaklen that you can overcome anything in your way. “I really enjoyed it and to be fair I didn’t think I would.
” Nicole did the tandem jump with UK Parachuting at Sibson Airfield and was thankful for a soft landing. She said: “I was strapped to one of the instructors and we got to 14,000 feet. “I got that belly dropping feeling but the adrenaline outweighs it.
“I don’t like heights but I took in all the sights and it was so quiet and peaceful.” Even though it was ‘very cold’ at high altitude, Nicole would do another one to raise more awareness about her son’s condition which affects his mobility. She added: “A lot of people said they wouldn’t have thought of the difficulties we face with limb difference.
“I would 100 per cent do it again. “Oaklen was there saying ‘that’s my mummy’.” There will be more fundraising activities taking place in aid of the foundation - which supports children born with limb differences and their families.
The funds raised by Nicole’s skydive will go towards 50 bike adaptations to help youngsters learn to ride a cycle. Katie Dengel, founder of The LimbBo Foundation said: “I would like to say a big thank you, to Nicole. “It is people like Nicole that keep us running.
“We are a non-profit charity for upper and lower limb difference, every penny goes to LimbBo children. “We really appreciate the support of Nicole from all of us at The LimbBo Foundation.” A charity football match at Haven High Academy, Boston, with a 1pm kick-off is taking place on Sunday, June 1.
