Vadodara: Five temporary teaching assistants (TTAs) who joined MS University's department of psychology in July have not received their appointment orders or monthly salaries for four and a half months. On Monday, Professor Satish Pathak , senior professor in the department of education at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, wrote to MSU vice-chancellor (VC) Vijay Srivastava, demanding that the appointment orders of the TTAs be released immediately and their salaries be paid according to the rules. Pathak, who has already challenged Srivastava's appointment as MSU VC in the Gujarat high court (HC), threatened to file a writ petition against the university authorities if the appointment orders and the salaries of TTAs are not released.

In his letter to the VC, Pathak said that the five TTAs were selected in May by the psychology department for the academic year 2024-25 after a formal interview procedure under the chairmanship of the faculty dean, Professor Ashutosh Biswal. The candidates had been verbally told to begin work by the head of department (HoD) Dr Rashmin Sompura. "All of them joined the department in July and have been performing their duties sincerely according to the guidance of the HoD.

For any reason, they are not given appointment orders till today, which is really an injustice to them," the letter states, adding that the appointment orders should be released soon and their salaries should be paid immediately..
