A ice cream parlour which went viral on social media will be served up along with hot food at a newly refurbished petrol service station. Limes Service Station on Manchester Road, Walkden , underwent a transformation over the last week, with its shop having a revamp. The Texaco station made headlines in 2022 after it reduced its price to be the cheapest for miles around during the cost of living crisis.

Staff at the station (Image: Limes Service Station) The newly refurbished shop includes "viral" dessert vendor Mr Tee's Ice Cream, fresh flowers, a Skwishee machine and there are even plans to sell their own food under the brand 'Limes Kitchens', including curries and burgers. The owners say they will continue to provide "competitive" fuel prices, such as petrol at 125.

"Known across the UK for his creative and viral dessert creations, Mr Tee has built a large following. He’ll be joining us in the coming weeks for a special event, offering a full day of free ice cream to our customers—a fun and memorable experience for all. "We’re introducing several new features to enhance the in-store experience, including a vibrant selection of fresh flowers and a Skwishee machine to deliver fun, frozen refreshment.
"We will also have Limes Kitchens soon. We’re putting the finishing touches on this exciting addition, which will soon offer a range of hot food options, from burgers to curries." In summer 2022, the station cut its prices significantly to 169.9p for petrol and 185.9p for diesel, which was down from around 187.
9p a litre for unleaded and diesel price of 194.9p a litre. Cars could be seen queuing down the road at the time for the significantly cheaper prices.
