A new parking scheme restricting motorhomes has come into force

Motorhomes have been banned from parking overnight on a road in a win for campaigning locals. Following a campaign from Arundel residents and town council, new restrictions have been put in place on Mill Road. The order restricts motorhomes from parking on the road between 10pm to 9am every day.

The restrictions stretch the whole length of the road, beginning at the museum and ending at the Black Rabbit pub. New fencing is also due to be installed on the layby opposite the Wildfowl Wetlands Trust to protect the signposts when people are reversing.

The new restrictions hope to allow moto caravans to visit the area during the day but deter them staying longer term. West Sussex County Council said: “Mill Road is not a suitable location for long duration stays, due to concerns such as environment impact caused by the lack of proper sanitary facilities, as well as the use of fire pits and barbeques on the grass verge.”.
