A woman has died in hospital, weeks after she suffered critical head injuries in a crash in the Port Stephens area . The 55-year-old was ejected from her bike on Nelson Bay Rd, Fullerton Cove just after 4.20pm on October 4, police said.

Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today Paramedics treated the motorcyclist for head injuries and took her to Hunter Hospital, where she remained in a critical condition for two weeks. Police were notified on Friday the woman had died in hospital.
Following the crash, police attended a home in Chisholm and spoke to the 55-year-old male driver of the ute. He was taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory testing. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
