Pune: The Mahalunge MIDC police on Friday registered a case against a 34-year-old man from Borhade Vasti in Haveli on the charge of beating up a traffic police constable when the latter told him to halt his motorcycle behind the stop line on Friday evening. The incident occurred at Barge Vasti in Kuruli village on Pune-Nashik highway. The assaulted police constable attached to the Chakan traffic division lodged a complaint against the motorcyclist.
An officer from the Mahalunge MIDC police said the complainant was manning the traffic at Kuruli village on Pune-Nashik highway on Friday evening. "He stopped traffic on one side at Kuruli village and allowed the traffic on the other side to move. The suspect took his motorcycle ahead of the stop line.
The assaulted police constable told him to stop," the officer said. He said when the constable told the suspect to move back, the latter started abusing him. "He punched the constable and pushed him," the officer said.
