Motorcycle rider faces drug charge after traffic stop

A man who was pulled over riding a motorcycle with no tags on the license plate was charged with drug possession Thursday, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in Superior Court.

A man who was pulled over riding a motorcycle with no tags on the license plate was charged with drug possession Thursday, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in Superior Court. Gerald Daniel Perez, 42, was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony, fraudulent use of a license plate as a third-degree felony, expired registration as a violation and operation of an unregistered motor vehicle as a violation. m. Wednesday, officers pulled the motorcycle over near Fountain Plaza in Tumon because there were no tags on the plate. When they checked the license plate, they learned it was not assigned to the motorcycle Perez was riding, the complaint stated.



While they were arresting Perez on the license plate charge, they found a knife in his right pocket and two small bags of methamphetamine in a bag carried on his back, the complaint stated. If Perez is found guilty of the charges, he could face 10 years in prison. He was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
