For those with wanderlust, the thrill of discovering architectural marvels and hidden treasures in foreign lands, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, is part of the allure of . However, you don't need to traverse the globe to uncover breathtaking locales that remain largely undiscovered.

The UK is home to numerous idyllic spots that are perfect for your next staycation adventure. One such place, a charming little village, has even earned the title of the "most magical village" in the UK - and it's a mere 40-minute drive from a major city, making it an ideal getaway for those seeking a brief respite from urban living. A TikTok video recently spotlighted the lesser-known village of Culross, a former Royal burgh nestled in Fife, Scotland, conveniently located within easy reach of both and Edinburgh.

The video, posted by user Yazzy, hailed Culross as "the most magical wee village in Scotland", showcasing its cobblestone streets, vibrant buildings, and historic courtyards. Culross is approximately 30 miles from Glasgow, a journey estimated to take around 40 minutes by car. It's even closer to Edinburgh, at about 24 miles away, although the trip takes slightly longer due to the lack of direct motorway access.

The village is Scotland's most intact example of a 17th and 18th-century burgh and offers visitors a unique glimpse into the past. A burgh, an autonomous municipal corporation in Scotland, was typically fortified by a castle and featured a marketplace - both of which can be seen in the charming village of Culross. Currently, Culross Palace is open to tourists from 10am to 4pm, offering an exploration of history and even a small market stall in the palace gardens where fresh seasonal herbs, fruits, and vegetables are available for purchase.

If Culross seems familiar, it might be because it frequently appears on screen. The village has been used as a filming location for numerous productions, most notably the popular US series Outlander. In addition to its historical attractions, Culross boasts a cosy cafe and hosts occasional events, including a monthly after-hours tour of Culross Palace titled 'The Spirits of the Palace'.

Visitors to Culross have left glowing reviews on , where the village currently holds a 4.6-star rating. Many describe the experience as akin to "stepping back in time", although some note that it can become "overrun with tourists" during peak season and weekends.

One visitor shared: "Really attractive little village, with beautiful buildings. Really well kept. Lots of interesting places, a pub, little cafes.

Great views of the sea and lovely walking path." Another visitor was charmed by the locale, remarking: "The village is absolutely beautiful - it is like stepping back in time. The palace is quite amazing and is a must-see.

The gardens are very impressive built up, as it is, on many terraces.".
