Morrisons has updated its More Card loyalty scheme, now allowing holders to donate their points to Marie Curie. Starting this week, customers can contribute their More Card points in multiples of 1,000 – equivalent to £1 – via the Morrisons More app or website. The supermarket ensures each donation is converted into funds for the charity.
Shoppers earn five More points per product when using their card at the checkout or online with Morrisons, and upon amassing 5,000 points, they receive a Morrisons Fiver, redeemable on future purchases either in-store or online. Additionally, the scheme offers personalised offers to benefit customers on their shop. Morrisons' Corporate Affairs Director, David Scott, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the update: "We are delighted to see this next step in our partnership with Marie Curie which builds on £1million already raised thanks to our incredible colleagues and customers.

Whether our customers choose to spend their points or donate them, every transaction now has the potential to support families facing terminal illness.", reports the Mirror .
Marie Curie, a charity that offers support for individuals requiring end-of-life care and their loved ones, has partnered with Morrisons. Matthew Reed, Chief Executive at Marie Curie, said: "Every pound donated helps ensure more people can access the expert care and compassion they need at the end of life. "We're proud to be partnering with Morrisons in this innovative way and look forward to seeing the impact of this new loyalty feature across the communities we serve.
" This news follows Morrisons' announcement that it will be integrating its More loyalty scheme into all of its franchised stores this year. Last year, the supermarket chain began implementing its loyalty scheme into 1,000 Morrisons Daily stores. However, this year, this will be completed with all Morrisons Daily sites having the scheme.
The supermarket stated: "Morrisons More Card will soon be available to all franchise stores. Coming in 2025, Morrisons More is the first supermarket loyalty programme to be available in franchise convenience stores. Key customer benefits [include] specific prices for More cardholders, points rewards across many products [and] points promotions on some products.
" In less positive news, Morrisons has confirmed the closure of 17 convenience stores on April 16, with the exception of the Haxby Morrisons Daily store which will close a month later on May 14. The supermarket chain also revealed plans to shut down 52 in-store cafes, all 18 market kitchens, 13 florists, 35 meat counters, 35 fish counters and four pharmacies. Following a "wide-ranging review", Morrisons found these services were not cost-effective and stated that the closures will "help mitigate recent significant cost increases" including an increase in employers' National Insurance and the minimum wage.
While most employees affected by these changes will be offered alternative roles within the company, the supermarket confirmed that around 365 jobs are at risk of redundancy..
