Dean Kaletcher threw six scoreless innings in Morris Knolls' win on Monday.

NOTE: This story will be updated. Morris Knolls hasn’t been shy about building a demanding schedule. The last three games have been against Top 20 teams, two against Delbarton and the most recent was Sunday against Red Bank Catholic.

The team dropped all three but stopped the slide before it stretched to four. Dean Kaletcher tossed a gem on the mound and both Billy Wingren, Gavin Toland and Dylan Fitzsimmons backed him up at the plate with two hits and a run apiece to help Morris Knolls top Roxbury, 6-1, in Succasunna. After allowing four earned runs on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings against Delbarton in his previous start, Kaletcher made amends on Monday.

He settled down after a bumpy first inning and retired 15 of his final 17 batters, including the last 11 in a row. He tossed 85 pitches and allowed just three hits and a walk across six scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Fitzsimmons, who led the team with two RBI, got the final three outs and allowed one run on two hits but punched out two.

Both teams had three plate appearances with runners in scoring position in the first inning but came up empty. Pope John eventually broke through with a pair of runs in the third and four more in the fifth to take control of the game..
