Here are some news items from Friday, Nov. 15, 2024. Police seek person impersonating officer Bell Acres Police are investigating reports from Wednesday of an elderly man posing as a police officer.
Police were told the incident originated just outside the town, when a suspect began following the victim in a white pickup. They told police the truck began flashing its high beams and at one point the driver attempted to cut them off. The truck followed them home to a Bell Acres address, and they told police a white male who appeared to be in his 80s got out and identified himself as an undercover officer.
Police said the suspect “confronted” the victim in the driveway about their driving. Anyone involved in a similar incident in the area is asked to call 412-741-3010. T riders face closure Pittsburgh Regional Transit officials will close the Silver Line-Library stop on the “T” light rail following an electrical cable failure.
PRT officials said shuttle buses are currently operating from Library Station in South Park to Washington Junction in Bethel Park via Library Road. The Library Line, which extends from the North Shore to South Park, includes one of the oldest sections of the rail system where overhead power lines were retrofitted for use with light-rail vehicles. PRT said in a statement that while the aluminum feeder cables have lasted nearly 40 years, they are in need of replacement.
Crews are also working to reestablish the Silver Line at Lytle Station in Bethel Park so shuttle buses can also run between the Lytle and Library stations. In addition, construction along the University line will close Sixth Avenue between Bigelow Square and Centre Avenue from 4 a.m.
to 4 p.m. Saturday.
A PRT contractor will maintain access to the Chatham Square and Mellon Service Center garages.
