Loopy Godinez | Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC Loopy Godinez escaped UFC Mexico with a big win—and also, fortunately, her dignity.A clip from Godinez’s fight against Julia Polastri quickly went viral this past Saturday when the strawweight contender made a distressing plea to her corner in between rounds, letting them know was experiencing severe indigestion and was in danger of having an in-octagon accident.Check out the scene below.
Loopy Godinez had one of the scariest things that can ever happen to an MMA fighter happen tonight...
“HOLY S**T I NEED TO POOP!!!” #UFCMexico pic.twitter.com/dRIKs2qrDa— FULL SEND MMA (@full_send_mma) March 30, 2025In the end, Godinez—No.
11 at 115 pounds in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings—kept it all together and survived a wild third round to win a unanimous decision and snap a two-fight losing streak. Both fighters received plenty of praise for the exciting contest and Godinez is just grateful she was able to make it in and out of the cage without incident.“I guess I was getting sick on Friday, I was getting chills, but then I thought I was just cold because I was really low, like my fat was really low and I was losing weight,” Godinez told Inside Fighting.
“Then I just didn’t say anything. I told my coach, he also thought it was just because my body fat was so low. The weigh-ins happen, the official weigh-ins, and then I just hydrate myself, but I was having diarrhea or whatever and then it kept going overnight, it happened, and then right before coming into the cage, again.
“I guess between rounds I kind of felt it again and I was like, ‘Oh shit.’”Godinez, a native of Mexico who fights out of Canada, hopes to land on the UFC 320 event set to take place in Guadalajara on Sept. 13.
She joked that she has a plan should gastrointestinal issues rear their ugly head again.“Maybe next time if I feel anything like this, I could wear a diaper,” Godinez said. “Maybe that will help.
”For now, Godinez is happy to be back in the win column following consecutive losses to top contenders Mackenzie Dern and Virna Jandiroba. She points to mental toughness as a key attribute to getting through her fight with Polastri—and moving past what could have been the most embarrassing moment of her career.“I was trying not to think about that stuff before the fight,” Godinez said.
“Even if I was feeling something—because the more you think about it, the more you are sabotaging yourself. So I was just like, whatever, I’ll be fine, not everyone stepping into the cage is 100 percent either. I just suck it up and hope for the best and I felt that between the rounds.
“Luckily, nothing major happened. I felt that, I said it, and now it’s out there, and yeah.”TOP STORIESMailbag.

Justine Kish in her loss to Felice Herrig is just one example that comes to mind (and I really wish it didn’t), Tim Sylvia is another.Any sort of accident like that is grounds for a disqualification, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that call actually play out.You know what, let’s just not talk about this anymore.
