Morgan Rogers received plaudits from former Manchester City team-mate Cole Palmer after making his Champions League debut with Aston Villa . Rogers was a key part of Villa's starting line-up that triumphed over Young Boys 3-0 on Tuesday night , the former City star playing a crucial role in Unai Emery's midfield. Palmer, who shared the pitch with Rogers in City's youth teams before they both moved on in 2023, expressed his support for the young midfielder on social media in just two words.
On Instagram, Rogers posted: "I used to pray for times like this. My Champions League debut," to which Palmer responded: "My boy," reports the Mirror . The 22-year-old's public endorsement of a league rival and old friend demonstrates his ongoing affection for those he worked with at City – and his commitment to spreading positivity for these colleagues even after leaving the club.

City kit man Brandon Ashton recently announced his departure from the club after 15 years of service under various managers. On Instagram, Ashton wrote: "After 15 years at Manchester City I have decided to leave my role at the club to explore other career paths.
I have had some great experiences, met some amazing people who I know will be friends for life. For me and my family I feel it is the right time to start a new chapter, and see what new challenges I can be set. "I will always hold Manchester City close to my heart as this club has brought me from a boy to a man.
The memories I have over my time at City will forever be cherished. I want to thank all the players, management and back room staff I have worked with and also the fans I have had the pleasure to converse with over the years. I wish the lads nothing but the best this season and in the future.

" Rogers, meanwhile, parted ways with Manchester City last summer - spending a season at Championship club Middlesbrough before signing for Villa in February in a deal which could rise to £16million. Since teaming up with The Villains, Rogers has played 21 games, scored three goals and bagged one assist. It is expected Rogers will once again line up for Emery's side when they take on struggling Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday (3pm) at Villa Park.
