There are plenty of connections between Nashville and L.A. But one I wasn’t aware of was the relationship between two outposts of Wags & Walks — a dog rescue organization that strives to empty local shelters and decrease the number of dogs euthanized by encouraging adoptions of dogs of all sizes and temperaments.

Founded by Lesely Brog, Wags & Walks doesn’t end its relationship with adoptive pet owners after they take their new best friend home. They offer continuing education classes and pack walks to help continue socializing your new pupper after you take him or her home. To help raise funds to support these noble efforts, Virgin Hotels Nashville is hosting a Backyard BBQ at The Pool Club on Saturday, April 5, from noon until 4 p.

m. Head up to the rooftop for Martin's Bar-B-Que, peach cocktails from The Peach Truck and musical entertainment. Kendra Scott and Krewe will offer pop-up shops, and of course their will be sweet dogs available for adoption as the guests of honor.

A portion of the proceeds from all sales will go to Wags & Walks. The event is free, but you probably want to RSVP in advance to make sure they hold you a spot. Another chance to do good and have fun is coming up on Wednesday, April 16, with the Martinis & Jazz fundraiser benefiting Nashville Pride .

I imagine that some Scene employees might be in attendance, since the event will be in the courtyard of Center 615 in East Nashville at 615 Main St. That happens to be where we (co)work. From 6 until 9 p.

m., the courtyard host a 21-and-up cocktail party with a Hollywood glam atmosphere. Your $50 ticket entitles you to three hours if entertainment, including: Complimentary craft cocktails, beer and wine Delicious appetizers and treats Live music and entertainment throughout the evening Access to the Silent Auction featuring premium items Access to the Wine Pull, where guests can take home a bottle of wine Patron tickets are also available for $100 for attendees who would like to show even more support for Nashville Pride and the organization’s efforts to foster inclusivity in the Middle Tennessee area.

Now more than ever, Nashville Pride’s advocacy is critical to the community, so if you want to show your support, purchase a ticket to Martinis & Jazz at the event website ..
