After returning to service after the mandated pandemic closure, Nicky’s Coal Fired owners Tony and Carline Galzin tried a lot of different service options to keep their employees and customers safe and happy . From offering carryout (including bagels and take-and-bake Sicilian pizzas) to shifting to a fast-casual counter ordering procedure, the couple tweaked their operations to stay afloat when other restaurants unfortunately sank. As Nicky’s approaches its 10th birthday, the Galzins are returning to full-service dining Monday, Feb.

3. No longer will patrons place their order at the counter inside the front door, but instead they will get to enjoy the full hospitality experience that made Nicky’s a neighborhood favorite. Linger over the menu and a drink while scanning the menu of pasta and pizza.

Even better, avail yourself of Nicky’s new "Five & Ten” daily happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m., featuring some of their Italian favorites.

Marinated Olives Garlic Bread Focaccia Meatball Slider You-Pick-It Italian Spritz Chicago Handshake Select Pizzas Antipasto Martini (Vodka or Gin) Negroni Frozen Espresso Martini "Independent restaurants are vital to the fabric of Nashville's neighborhoods," shares Tony Galzin in the official announcement of the new service model. "As we approach our 10th anniversary, we're proud to be an anchor in The Nations and look forward to serving our community for many years to come." Nicky's Coal Fired also invites guests to celebrate the return of full-service dining, including weekly offerings such as Family Monday, when kids 12 and under eat for free, and $10 Tuesday, when all pizzas are $10 for dining in and to-go orders.

Patti's House Salad at International Market Speaking of major milestones, International Market is celebrating 50 years on Belmont Boulevard this year, and the restaurant has all sorts of commemorations planned throughout the year, including a major party later in the fall. For February, in addition to the special pad Thai chicken wing kit that I told you about last week , Arnold Myint is bringing back the iconic Patti House Salad that former staffer Carrington Fox first described almost 15 years ago . While Arnold’s version of the house salad is a little bit abbreviated compared to his mom’s, it’s still a remarkable dining experience, and you no longer need to pre-order it since it’s on the daily specials menu for February.

Choose your choice of protein (or go vegan) for the ginger pepper stir fry and then stuff those lettuce wraps to your heart’s content. Arnold Myint has spent a lot of time in Southern California over the past few years, so he wanted to find a way to help out those affected by the horrific wildfires. He has partnered with one of L.

A.’s oldest Thai spots, Jitlada , to assist them in the free meals they have been handing out to affected Angelenos. For the month of February, proceeds from the Patti's House Salad and IM’s “dish of the day” will go to Jitlada to help them serve even more gratis meals.

Like I always say, eat well and do good!.
