Mom Left Phone Unattended, Months Later Discovers What Kids Did—'Mortified'

Ali George has already emailed her children's school to issue an apology but that's only the tip of the iceberg.

A mom-of-four has vowed to never leave her phone unattended again after a prank one of her kids played went unchecked for months. Ali George from Gloucestershire in the U.K.

is the first to admit she is "technologically incompetent." She's not alone in that respect. Last year, a survey of 1,000 U.

S. adults conducted by I.T.

company Asurion revealed roughly two thirds of respondents did not consider themselves to be "tech savvy." That lack of savviness is unlikely to have come back to bite them in the same way it did George recently though. It all started when George noticed her name was coming up as something very unusual on her Apple watch.

She had noticed before but the device kept referring to her as "Stinky Stinky Poo Poo Farts." She initially laughed it off, but the situation worsened when, while sending an email to herself to "save something," she realized all her message had been sent out with that same crude name on them. That was a problem.

"I was absolutely mortified as I'd been emailing the school from that email," George told Newsweek . She immediately had a prime suspect in mind. "I think it was my eldest daughter who is 10," she said.

"My son [who is 17] seems to think it has been like it for the past few months." Though she can't be sure without a confession, George reckons her daughter "must have done it whilst I was in the shower and left my phone unattended." "I have no idea how she knew how to do it," she said.

"I have an older son who may have helped her but he's not admitted to anything." In the time since the discovery, George has been busy with damage limitation. "I've sent an email apologizing to the school," she said.

"They said they found it funny, thank goodness. I also had to get my son to help me change it back." Given that the name has most likely been in place for a few months, it's safe to assume a few more people George knows received emails from Stinky Stinky Poo Poo Farts.

Not that George is all that bothered at this stage. She's changed the password on her phone and is trying to see the funny side in it all, going as far as to post about it in a video shared to her TikTok , Alifoodandfunny, where it's already been watched 250,000 times. "I had no idea it would take off the way it has," George said.

"It seems from the comments that quite a few people have had their emails or WhatsApp names changed unknowingly . Children outwitting their parents in the technology stakes is clearly rife." One woman commented: "My son changed my WhatsApp Status to 'I'm a big farter' and I didn't realize it for months, writing to my landlord, my boss and handymen.

" Another viewer said: "My name is Butt Cheek! I have no idea how to change it! It says 'well done Butt cheek'" A third added: "My brother changed my dad's email to papa smurf and he still doesn't know how to change it after about 15 years." It's all led George to one conclusion: "I won't be leaving my phone unattended any time in the future.".
