India are all set to travel to Australia as they take on the current WTC champions in a five-match Test Series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting from November 22. The 18-man squad for the series was announced and the big name that was missing was that of Mohammed Shami, who was supposed to mark his return in this all-important tour fro injury. The fast bowler has been out of action for almost a year, and him not being able to mark his return in Australia is a big blow for India.

However, it looks like he might be included in the squad for the tour. Mohammed Shami To Be In Squad For Brisbane Test According to a report by news agency IANS, Mohammed Shami is all set to return to competitive cricketing action in the Ranji Trophy 2024 for Bengal against Karnataka from November 6 at Bengaluru, and he will also play the subsequent match vs Madhya Pradesh in Indore from November 13. The report also states that the star fast bowler will most likely join the Indian squad from the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is set to take place from December 14 at Brisbane.

Why Mohammed Shami Is Missing From Border-Gavaskar Trophy Squad? An ankle injury has ruled Mohammed Shami out of competitive action ever since the ODI World Cup 2023 final. He even underwent surgery and was subsequently rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru as the BCCI aimed to make him fit for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. There were reports that while he was rehabilitating, he once again suffered an injury to his knee.

This has most probably derailed his progress, and he unfortunately had to miss the all-important tour to Australia. After missing out, the superstar fast bowler also shared a video on his Instagram profile, where he is seen sweating it out. In the caption he apologized to fans and BCCI, and promised a swift comeback to red-ball cricket.
