Salah needs 77 more goals to break the Premier League all-time scoring record Alan Shearer thinks his all-time goalscoring record is under threat Mohamed Salah . That's after the forward committed his future to Liverpool last week. The Reds legend ended speculation surrounding his future by agreeing a new two-year contract with the club.
Salah's performances have been integral to the team's success this year, as they are now just two wins away from winning the Premier League title. The Egyptian has netted 184 times in English football's top flight, which puts him fifth on the all-time list alongside Sergio Aguero. Shearer is at the summit with 260, with Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney and Andrew Cole making up the rest of the top five.
With another two seasons at Anfield now seemingly guaranteed - as well as the final few weeks of this campaign - Salah does have an outside chance of scoring the 77 goals needed to surpass the Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers legend. "I'm delighted to see another great player sitting behind me for another couple of years," joked Shearer when asked about Salah potentially running him close, per Premier League Productions. "He's an incredible talent, he'll definitely have a chance the way he's been, the way he is and the way Liverpool are going.
"Liverpool are only going to go one way, they’re going to get better, they’re going to sign players in the summer, they're going to win the league this season. He’ll have a good go like a few others have." Salah is enduring a rare goal drought by his own high standards, having gone five Liverpool games without netting.
He did however set up Luis Diaz's opener in the win over West Ham United on Sunday, taking him to a league record 45 goal contributions for the campaign..
