The future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool is dominating the headlines and reports suggest alternatives are being eyed Liverpool are reportedly observing Omar Marmoush and Karim Adeyemi as transfer targets in light of Mohamed Salah's contract uncertainty. The Egyptian star is close to entering the final six months of his current deal at Anfield , with speculation surrounding his future. The 32-year-old has enjoyed a record-breaking seven years on Merseyside, netting 217 goals in 359 appearances for the Reds , but has yet to agree to a new contract and as it stands, could leave the club on a free transfer in the summer.

Salah is one of three high-profile players facing scrutiny over their Liverpool careers, with captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also due to be free agents in July. Reports in Germany have suggested that contingency plans are already being drawn up should they fail to agree on an extension for the former AS Roma forward. Patrick Berger and Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg have named Eintracht Frankfurt's Marmoush and Adeyemi of Borussia Dortmund as possible options.

It has been said that Marmoush, 25, is the subject of discussions at Deutsche Bank Park over a fresh deal, which is said to include a year extension and a salary increase, despite being set to remain at the club until 2027. Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest expressed an interest in Salah's Egyptian teammate during the summer, but no move materialised. Liverpool supporters face an anxious wait over Salah's future and so far this season, he has four goals and as many assists in the first seven Premier League fixtures.

The forward became the first ever Liverpool player to score in five consecutive Champions League encounters in L4, after he netted the all-important second goal during their 2-0 win over Bologna. After his goal contribution in the rout against Manchester United, Salah said: "I had a good summer, a long time to stay with myself and think positively a bit. "As you know, this is my last year with the club and I want to enjoy it.

I don’t want to think about it; I feel I am free to play football - we will see what happens next year. "To be fair I was coming to the game, it could be the last time [playing at Old Trafford]. Nobody in the club has talked to me about contracts.

It is not up to me, it is up to the club." The ECHO reported on Monday that Liverpool were planning to tie down five squad members to new contracts. Jarell Quansah became the first of which to pen fresh terms, while Ibrahima Konate is also on the list with talks ongoing with Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold.
