Anson Boon, star of the Paramount+ crime show MobLand , has warned viewers to expect the unexpected from the rest of the 10-part series after the first episode landed over the weekend. Boon, who plays Eddie Harrigan, the unpredictable grandson of mob boss Conrad Harrigan ( Pierce Brosnan ), told Yahoo: "I think you can expect something that is totally unexpected [from MobLand], basically. Whatever you think might happen - the opposite will happen, because it's full of twists and turns.
" "Obviously, we don't want to give away any spoilers, but it's real edge of your seat stuff." "There's a lot that's going to happen," adds Mandeep Dhillon, Conrad's daughter Seraphina. "There's so many different storylines, but it's so hard to talk about, without talking about it.
" Watch: The cast of MobLand share teasers for the show The show introduces the Harrigan family, whose London crime dynasty get drawn into a war with rival criminal family the Stevensons, after Tommy Stevenson goes missing during a night out with Eddie. The show has a rich tapestry of characters including Conrad and his scheming wife Maeve (Helen Mirren), their children who all have their part to play in the family business, and Tom Hardy as Harrigan fixer Harry De Souza, and each has their own storyline waiting to play out over the series' run. Created by Ronan Bennett — the showrunner on Top Boy and Sky's The Day of the Jackal — MobLand's first two episodes are directed by Guy Ritchie, and written by Jez Butterworth (the award-winning playright behind Jerusalem and The Ferryman), and the cast were full of praise for the show's scripts.
"It's so exciting when you have the stamp of Guy Ritchie over the top of your project," says Lara Pulver, who plays Bella Harrigan in the show, "because it's exciting, it's fun, it's witty, it's dark, it's kind of delicious. He didn't disappoint, which is great." "When you add the element of Jez Butterworth into this," continues Pulver, "he's so brilliant at writing such messed up family dynamics, those family, political.
.. it's all that messy grey stuff, which for an actor is delicious.
" "Some of the scripts," adds Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt, who plays Harry's wife Jan, "the episodes that I've read, as the series unfolds, some of the cliffhangers are just immense. And I've gone 'OH. MY.
GOSH! I cannot believe that happened!' Where Jez comes up with these things from, I do not know. "They are incredible. His mind is amazing.
" When asked about the prospect of a second series, Anson Boon crossed his fingers, and said: "Let's hope so!" MobLand continues on Paramount+ on Sunday..
