Pune: A 55-year-old farmer, who also owned a hotel, was found murdered on Monday evening at Shindawane village in Yavat, about 45km from the city, barely 12 hours after he was abducted by five men in an SUV from Phursungi Phata in Hadapsar. The deceased, Satish Sadba Wagh , was the relative of a sitting member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) from the city. He lived in an independent house close to Blueberry hotel at Manjari Farms near Phursungi Phata.
"He owned a hotel and a shop, which he had given on rent to third parties," DCP (Zone IV) R Raja told TOI. "We have questioned the victim's family over the possible motive behind the murder. However, so far we haven't received any leads.
Our teams are working on certain clues to identify and arrest the suspects. For now, we are questioning four local residents but haven't got any specific information," he added. Senior inspector from the Hadapsar police Santosh Pandhare said, "Wagh went on a morning walk every day.
On Monday too, he was out for a walk around 6.30am, and even greeted one of his neighbours when they crossed each other. Moments later, an SUV came and stopped next to him.
Three men stepped out and dragged Wagh into the four-wheeler, prompting him to raise an alarm." Stay updated with the latest news on Times of India . Don't miss daily games like Crossword , Sudoku , and Mini Crossword .
