fans have been hoping for from the competition for some time now, and after a semi-final cook-off against Caz and Fergus on Sunday night, those wishes finally came true. The two teams raced against the clock as they were given 90 minutes for entrée, 60 minutes for the main and 45 minutes for dessert. After winning the last Kitchen HQ challenge, Caz and Fergus enjoyed a 15-minute head start, cooking an Asian-inspired menu, with Grilled Pork Jowl with Nahm Jim Jaew for entrée, Choo Chee Ocean Trout with Papaya Salad for main and dessert of Panna Cotta.
chose a technical menu that featured Kingfish Ceviche for entrée, Beef Wellington for main and Raspberry Soufflé with Raspberry Sauce for dessert. Speaking with , Caz and Fergus admitted they were impressed by their opponent's cook, with Caz telling us, "Their menu last night was super impressive, credit where credit’s due. Seeing their Beef Wellington and their beautiful food, we knew it was going to be super close.
" Fergus admitted he thought their menu was a "gamble" but added it was "smart", saying, "I was blown away that they even contemplated doing Beef Wellington. It’s super technical and time wise, a big gamble, but I think it was smart. "I think they made the right decision by cooking their best dishes then.
They had a real chance of beating us, and I think people doubted Janey and Maddie the whole way through, but they played it smart. You just have to get through to the finals and it doesn't really matter, and then it's elimination from there. So we were super lucky to get through.
" agreed that the cooking standard was "Grand Final level on both sides", with Manu admitted the competition was "neck and neck", before Caz and Fergus took out the win. An emotional Janey said of their elimination from the competition, "It’s a bit painful getting eliminated but nothing else has mattered more than spending the time with Maddie." Many fans were simply happy to see Maddie and Janey eliminated, with one user writing, "The right team won.
" "Justice, at last, so sorry for all the other teams that were put out just for viewing figures," another said. "I'm not sure what I'm more happy about. Janey and Maddie leaving or Caz and Fergus winning," a third wrote.
Others were quick to agree with Manu and Colin, taking to social media to say that Janey and Maddie actually came through to show their talent in the kitchen during the semi-final, with many saying they didn't believe they actually had it in them to cook. "Caz and Fergus narrowly deserved their win," one Instagram user pointed out. "Janey and Maddie can be proud of their achievement in MKR.
" "Maddie & Janey did very well tonight," another agreed. "That was a close competition. All should be proud.
" "A very close contest," a third wrote. "Caz and Fergus won by a narrow margin. All the food cooked tonight in the competition looked delicious.
" Others said it was sad that the mother and daughter were kept in the competition for so long, given they perhaps hadn't proven their skill earlier in the show. "It saddens me that for whatever reason the judges saw fit to keep them in the game for so long, after serving up very questionable meals, their total lack of simple hygiene and their grandeur attitude towards their fellow contestants ,they were kept in at the expense of other more capable and respectable home cooks," one angry fan said. "Probably more the producers than the judges - at least I hope so," another said.
"Why does Colin always come in and save the mother and daughter?" a third questioned after Colin was seen helping the pair with their jus and beef wellington. "It's very disappointing," another agreed..
