Missouri women’s basketball lands first transfer portal commitment of Kellie Harper era

Missouri women’s basketball has its first commitment out of the transfer portal, as Kentucky guard and in-state product Saniah Tyler committed to Mizzou.

Kellie Harper has landed her first commitment as the Missouri women’s basketball’s head coach.Kentucky transfer Saniah Tyler announced via her Instagram account Tuesday that she has committed to the Tigers out of the transfer portal. Tyler won two MSHSAA Class 6 state titles with Incarnate Word Academy and is from Florissant, Missouri.

She appears to have one remaining year of eligibility.It marks the first inward movement of this portal window for the Tigers, who are facing a major rebuild after Harper replaced Robin Pingeton at the helm of the program.After Tyler’s commitment, Mizzou still has room to add seven players in this transfer portal window, which opened March 24 and will remain open for new entries through April 23.

All four other outgoing transfers — point guard Londyn Oliphant, guard Tilda Sjokvist, forward Hilke Feldrappe and center Lucija Milkovic — were reserves or role players for the Tigers last season.Now, Mizzou has some inward movement.

Tyler saw less playing time for the Wildcats after a coaching change brought Kenny Brooks to Lexington last offseason, as she went from playing 26.8 minutes per game in the 2023-24 season to 12.3 minutes per game last year.

The 5-foot-6 guard averaged 10.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game for the Wildcats in 2023-24, dropping to 2.

6 points and 1.2 rebounds last season. She has a career 34.

6% clip from 3-point range but a 33.8% shooter from the field. More than half of her collegiate shots have come from behind the arc.

Tyler was rated as a four-star prospect by ESPN in the Class of 2022.
