JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ) Missouri Republicans have picked their leadership in the state Senate for the 2025 legislative session, according to a Thursday press release. Sen.

Cindy O’Laughlin, of Shelbina, was picked as the president pro tem. She will be the first woman to serve in the position, the release says. The president pro tem is responsible for appointing committee members, assigning legislation to committees and ruling on points of order raised during debates, the release says.



The release the following people were picked for: Majority Floor Leader: Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer, of Parkville Assistant Majority Floor Leader: Sen. Curtis Trent, of Battlefield Majority Caucus Whip: Sen.

Jill Carter, of Granby Majority Caucus Chairman: Sen. Ben Brown, of Washington Majority Caucus Secretary: Sen. Sandy Crawford, of Buffalo.
