Mississippi turtle rescue helps tortoise that was lost during tornado outbreak

A tortoise that is believed to have been displaced when a tornado hit Mississippi has been reunited with his people. The tortoise, which was found after the March 15 tornadoes hit the Tylertown area, was taken to Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue where he was treated for injuries. The rescue put a call out on social media in an effort to find the owners.

A few days after the post, the owners contacted the rescue. "We found out he was indeed a victim of the recent tornado there," Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue said on Facebook. "He was either blown by winds or he walked out after the storm took out their fence.



He's got some injuries to overcome, but he's at least back in the arms of his family." Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue is a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 to provide rescue and rehabilitation for injured, sick, abused, neglected or abandoned turtles and tortoises..
