The extension came just hours after the announcement of the 10 delegates who topped the “Runway Showcase” poll , what was supposed to be the third and final round of online voting, on Wednesday evening, April 16.
“We’re extending the voting period for the PINA Personality, Swimsuit, and Runway Showcases!” the Miss Universe Philippines pageant posted on social media close to midnight on Wednesday, announcing an extension until May 2. The first round of voting for the Personality Showcase ran from March 1 to 15, followed by the polling for the Swimsuit Showcase from March 16 to 31. The third round, for the Runway Showcase, was conducted from April 1 to 15.
For this year’s edition of the national pageant, online voting plays a very important role in sealing the delegates’ fate because the top vote-getters will enjoy automatic entry to crucial stages of the final competition. The three delegates who will amass the highest number of votes will advance to the semifinals, while the two ladies with the most votes will gain slots in the succeeding round. The highest vote-getter will earn a spot in the final round.
“Time to go all out for your favorite queens to help them land a spot in the finals!” the Miss Universe Philippines pageant posted. (For details on how to vote, you may visit the organization’s social media pages.) Major national pageant rookie Maiko Ibarde from the Province of Benguet was the only delegate to be included in the leading delegates in all three rounds of online voting.
Taylor Marie De Luna from the Filipino community of Southern California and representing Malay, Aklan, in the competition, and Juliana Acut Fresado from Iligan were in the Top 10 of both the Runway Showcase and Personality Showcase. Andrea Cayabyab from the Province of Pangasinan was among the top vote-getters in the Runway Showcase and the Swimsuit Showcase, while Jarina Sandhu from the Province of Isabela was among the leaders in the Swimsuit Showcase and Personality Showcase. Among the seasoned aspirants, 2023 Miss Earth-Air Yllana Aduana from Siniloan, Laguna, was in the Top 10 in the Swimsuit Showcase, while the leaders in the Runway Showcase included 2017 Reina Hispanoamericana Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez from Muntinlupa City and 2019 Reina Hispanoamericana Quinta Finalista (fifth runner-up) Katrina Llegado from Taguig City.
