While it’s always been processor and power and performance being thrown around at major tech expos, this year at CES has introduced a refreshing focus on beauty and wellness. Here are four concepts that might look like mere mirrors on the wall but they end up analysing a lot of factors relevant to both beauty and health! South Korea has already established itself as the skincare capital of the world. Now, it’s adding tech to the fold.
The Samsung MICRO LED Beauty Mirror takes about 30 seconds to scan your face and analyse your skin type, skin concerns such as pigmentation, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles and enlarged pores. Post analysis, it offers customised regimens and product recommendations. This tech has been developed in collaboration with Amorepacific, a leading cosmetics company, whose sub-brands include super popular skincare brands such as Sulwhasoo, Laneige, Cosrx and Innisfree.
An AI-powered smart mirror, the FaceHeart Cardio Mirror is designed for cardiac health assessments. It captures a 45-second “selfie” and then scans for possible atrial fibrillation and heart failure. It also tracks other vitals such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, stress index and more.
The best of a device like this is that it’s completely non-intrusive, takes very little time to scan and can thereby help users take preventive measures or monitor existing issues with ease. Designed to be a personal health mirror, the Withings Omnia has a platform with health sensors you can step on. A mirror-like interface then displays in-depth data on your health.
The whole experience is enhanced by Omnia’s ability to understand voice commands as well as display a 3D body model. While still a concept, it’s designed to work along with Withing’s own smartwatches, smart scales, blood pressure monitors and sleep trackers as well as third-party devices. The voice-based AI companion will also be able to offer real-time feedback and motivation for you to stick to your health and fitness goals.
Say goodbye to endless rounds of swatching makeup, then swiping it off. The Kosé Mixed Reality Makeup instantly creates the experience of a makeup try-on studio, without the hassle of going to one. This device lets you virtually try makeup using high-speed projection mapping tech.
The device adapts to your facial movements so you can see how the makeup would look in real-time as you converse, laugh or pose for the camera. Eyeshadow, blush and lipstick shades can be customised and tried on across a wide range of colours, and on all skin tones. Comments.
