The uptick in food insecurity is a somber reality in Minnesota, where 1 in 5 households reportedly struggle to put food on the table. The ACBC Food Shelf in Anoka is currently caught in the crosshairs of this issue, with a 15% increase in visits over the past year alone.Despite the rising need, there's a ray of hope with the Minnesota Foodshare March Campaign steadily marching forward.

Given the urgency, ACBC has set an ambitious goal to raise $100,000 and gather 150,000 pounds of food. "All of the funds and food we received throughout March and through April 6th is a proportional match," said Stephanie Lehman, executive director for ACBC Food Shelf. The campaign's structure turns every donated dollar into a significantly larger impact.

ACBC can stretch each dollar to purchase $9.33 worth of food from local banks. This year's campaign runs until April 6, allowing plenty of time for community members to step up and contribute to this critical cause.

Donations can be made directly at the ACBC Food Shelf or electronically via their website. Given that the food shelf's lifeline partly relies on how much they manage to raise during this period, Lehman emphasizes, "It's really important that we bring in as much as we can because this is typically a time of year where giving is down, even though the need continues to rise each day.".
