ST. PAUL — 3M's Scotch Magic Tape was recently crowned the winner of the inaugural "Coolest Thing Made in Minnesota" contest sponsored by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber launched the competition to showcase the most innovative and unique products made in the state.

The winner was announced earlier this month at the 2024 Manufacturers’ Summit held in Bloomington. Invented in 1961, Scotch Magic Tape is virtually invisible on light-colored paper and envelopes. Unlike glossy tapes, it can be written on with pen, pencil or marker.

The 3M website lists the following facts about the product: Of the nominations, 64 products were selected for the competition voted on by the public. Scotch Magic Tape edged out Action Manufacturing's Action Trackchair, Red Wing Shoe Company's Beckman Boot, and Midwest Floating Island's Innovative National Aquarium Wetland outside the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
