In a statement, the Ministry affirmed that the aggression on the fortress is an extension of the repeated and ongoing attacks on Yemen's history and its deep-rooted cultural and civilizational heritage. The statement considered this attack a flagrant violation of international agreements that criminalize attacks on historical and civilizational monuments.
It denounced the silence of international organizations concerned with preserving human cultural and civilizational heritage and their turning a blind eye to such crimes and attacks that are not subject to a statute of limitations and target archaeological, historical, cultural, and civilizational sites and monuments that represent a legacy for humanity, not just Yemen. He pointed out the importance of this archaeological landmark, "al-Qashla," which crowns the highest peak of Mount Nuqum and represents one of the most prominent architectural and historical landmarks in Yemen. The statement called on organizations concerned with cultural heritage worldwide to halt such crimes, take urgent and serious action to protect human heritage, assume their legal and moral responsibilities, and condemn this blatant aggression that targets the cultural heritage of humanity as a whole.
