A comprehensive review of the 2013 Constitution will commence soon, says Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Manoa Kamikamica. He made the comment during the National Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) Jalsa, at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday. “Democracy in its true form is a guardian of our rights and the protector of our freedom,” Mr Kamikamica said.

“Very soon we will initiate the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and a comprehensive review of the 2013 Constitution. “These actions aim to reflect on our past, learn from it and move forward with unity. “The review of the Constitution is a stepping stone towards a framework that is truly a representation of the people and involves every citizen of Fiji.

” Mr Kamikamica said the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was an election promise of the Coalition Government. “From the very beginning, the Coalition Government has advocated for the establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions to re examine the dark days of 1987, 2000 and 2006 ensuring that such events are never repeated,” he said. “The commission will be a beacon of hope where truth will be uncovered, and reconciliation pursued with the ultimate goal of fostering a future which is more reputable, peaceful and prosperous for all.
